Hello,

Let me first start by thanking everyone on this list for all their help
lately. Chris especially - has been particularly helpful.

Onto my problem, I spent ALL weekend converting all of our employees (who
had to fly in from many different places) from POP3/SMTP clients, to true
Exchange using VPN type clients. ALL the users running Outlook 2002, are
having problems when I setup their Offline Folders.

When I initially setup Offline Folders, and do a Send/Receive, it performs
the initial very lengthy check, as it's pulling all the mail from the server
in order to build the mailstore image to the hard drive.

After it does this, it generates an error message EVERY time Outlook
performs a Send/Receive. VERY irritating to the user - as they have to
acknowledge the error to keep working. The Synchronization of the Offline
Folders DOES work fine, but the last portion fails. If you look in the
Deleted Items folder for the log of what happened, it provides the below
error message. Also, it only errors out on the very last portion of the
Synchronization - while updating the Offline Address book. Now I don't have
any idea if it's the Address Book itself that is doing it, or if it's
something else. Here is the specific Error Message:

"Microsoft Exchange Server reported error (0x8004010F): the operation
failed. An object could not be found."

So right away, I went to the MS Website, and typed in that error code. Only
ONE article came up, and the title of that article is:

XADM: How to Reset System Folders on an Exchange 2000 Server

So, I performed the actions that they suggested - which was running a GUID
generator, and used ADSI Edit to insert the new number in the proper area.
Well it ran fine, I performed everything perfectly, rebooted the server, and
it STILL did not fix the problem.

Is this an Outlook XP thing? Is this an Outlook generated message? Is this
error being generated by the Exchange Server? I am really in the dark on
this right now, and am desperate for answers. FYI, it only seems to be the
XP clients that it's doing it to - the Outlook 2000 clients seem just fine.

I also get (for the XP AND 2000 users) an error of not being able to update
the Free/Busy thing on the server - so I don't know if that has anything to
do with this issue.

PLEASE let me know if there is anything that can be done about this -
because as of right now, I had to disable their Offline Folders in the
interim.

Thanks -

Mike
