If your internal server is an Exchange 5.5 you can configure message
archival on the Internet Mail Service. It's not as easy to deal with
the data, since each message is a separate file, but it does what you're
asking for.

I am replacing my DMZ Exchange 5.5 server by a simple smtp server acting
as a 1st level antivirus and mail relay between my internal Exchange 5.5
servers and the Internet.

Previously, the DMZ Exchange server was configure to do Site level
Message Journaling as per Q239427. I now have to do journaling with one
of my internal server but journaling can only be configure to the
Organisation/Site/server level. I cannot only log the Internet
Connector.

Searching, I have found that the Imsext.dll extension can do
Inbound/Outboud journaling (Q262122) to a mailbox but, there is no
information about what happen to the read/delivery receipt request
attach to the original message now send to the journaling mailbox. Are
they remove so if we have to check a message, a receipt will not be
generate (as with Exchange journaling) or will a receipt still be
generate and sent to the mail originator?
