You're having a name resolution issue.

I used to have RPCbindback errors in my server logs all the time, only
rarely between the servers in my own site, but all the time between my
bridgehead and the bridgehead in the other site in our org.

I could do a ping via FQDN and an RPC ping, but I couldn't ping the server's
common name. Our bridgehead and their bridgehead reside in different
domains...ours is bhi-erc.com, theirs is hanford.gov. So...my fix was to go
into the TCP/IP properties of the network connection, go to the Advanced
settings, then DNS tab, and in the "Append these DNS suffixes box, I had to
reverse the order I had the domains...I had to put their domain first...do
the same on yours. Put the other domain's FQDN in there. Do the opposite
on the other end and reboot both servers...SHOULD do the trick.

Hope that helps.

If I can do a successful rpc ping and normal ping; which I can; I would
think routing would be okay; but obviously something is amiss . . .

But IF the HOSTS file has been modified, then ping could work and 5.5
routing could fail.

These are in the same site.
They can ping each other (was that by FQDN?) and have RPC communication
confirmed.
