Certainly with infinite hardware we can improve performance a bit. My guess is that the manager asking for an additional store isn't putting up the $$$$ to spend on a completely new, duplicate disk infrastructure to help support the performance gains. If you want to see better performance, you need all new spindles for the new SG and you need a new controller and you need more RAM (lots more - 100MB + data cache).
