I think /3GB switch should be used if you have 1GB RAM or more. However it is only applicable on Advanced Server.

The /3GB switch has advantages only when you use it on a Windows 2000 Advanced Server-based computer. On the exchange server I have 2.5 gigs of memory I do not have the /3GB switch set in the boot.ini file. Does this note mean that I should not use more than 2 gigs of memory? Or is it okay to have more but not to use the /3GB switch? Does Microsoft recommend taking memory out of my server?
