Except that recreating the mailbox breaks all reply to's for internal users, unless you also carry over the Exchange DN style address from the old box. Personally, that's more work than I want to take, so I'd suggest continuing to rename and add the additional SMTP alias.
Not to mention, replication is replication, regardless of whether the mailbox is deleted or renamed, so there's no advantage to doing it the way you suggest, other than having the "correct" DN that is. -------------------------------------------------------------- Roger D.
