I have a similar error message appearing about my Exchange 5.5 server but mine says 1753 instead of 1722. And thus far I am unable to determine if I am really having problems with the RPC endpoint mapper or why I am having them. However, I found a number of hits for 1722 while trying to find the answer to my problem. Try googling for "MTA error code 1722". In the mean time, I did save this link <http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;307459> which among other things says:
"1722: This error code indicates that a connection to the RPC server cannot be made.This may also indicate a possible name resolution problem. Verify your name resolution as a best effort approach to resolve this error."
