I have a need to have a public folder with calendar items, and have email notifications sent for reminders. There are a number of Outlook addins listed on slipstick to do this, but there don't seem to be any server side solutions.
It seems like doing it with the addins relies on Outlook too heavily, in that if you reinstall Outlook without the addin, things stop working. I like the idea of server side email generation system more, but I can't find any. Is using Outlook for this purpose fairly standard?
