Has anyone else experienced this? I have a regular user running Win2K on
the desktop. Her mailbox was recently (2wks ago) moved from E5.5 to E2000.
The E5.5 servers are in our NT4 domain and the E2000 servers are in our
new Active Directory domain. Admigrate was run on her computer. No errors
and her computer is now in the AD domain. Her user account and password
were migrated as well. Immediatly after the migration and mailbox move,
she was able to login to the AD domain and login to Exchange via Outlook
2000 on her desktop. Outlook was set so that it would prompt her for her
ID, PW, & domain as it did before her account and computer migration. For
several days there were no problems. Last week she turned on her computer,
logged into the AD domain, then opened Outlook, entered her id, pw, and
checked that the domain was correct. An error was returned to her saying
"Invalid User ID or PW". My first thought was that she had simply mistyped
her pw. In checking the security logs on the AD domain controllers I found
a failed login with the source computer being her email server passing her
credentials to the domain controller and the DC saying that the id and pw
were incorrect. We reset her password, she rebooted and was able to login.
The very next day the same situation happened to her office mate who was
migrated the same day she was. 1 week later it is happening again. I have
verified that the pw is being typed correctly and that her and her office
mates user accounts were not locked out. Now, how can she login to the
Active Directory Domain but not to Exchange when they use the same id &
pw? In E2000, the directory service no longer exists within Exchange.
E2000 uses the Active Directory for authentication. Also, if it was a bad
id and pw she couldn't login to the domain to begin with. I set her
Outlook to use pass through authentication and so far that seems to be
working (for now) and am waiting to see if this problem occurs again. The
user would prefer that Exchange prompt for an id an pw. Any thoughts?
