What's disheartening is that more reliable (and fast) service to the
internet has not become more affordable to the small business owner in the
9 years I've been doing this. You are forced to pay out the wazoo for a
service you generally need to run your business but cannot always afford.
What is a drop in the bucket for Mr. Fortune 500 is unfathomable to Ms.
Home-Based PR person, but they have the same needs! So as far as
convincing clients to upgrade the question is upgrade to WHAT? Service
that costs several hundred dollars more per month that they can't afford?
Comcast was aware that we were setting up a mail server and they
(mis)informed us that this persistent IP address would be fine in the
application (it changes twice a year and we have notice to the change so
we can update our DNS accordingly.)

I appreciate the google and will certainly look into it if the static ip
does not resolve the problem. I don't mean to rant, I know how many
helpful and knowledgable people are on this board, but this is my passion.
I don't work with the big corps, even tho if I did I would see more
server troubleshooting (and money). I work with the little guy, who
shouldn't be forced to have cousin larry look at their server because they
can't afford a consultant (or a T1).
