Exchange 2000 does not have an "Exchange Administrator" account. What Exchange rights and at what levels does the account have?
Is the account a member of Enterprise Admins and Schema Admins? On this machine Windows 2000 is at sp4 and is a DC in the domain. I am using the "administrator" account, which is also the Exchange Administrator, to apply the sp. When trying to apply Exchange 2000 sp3 I am receiving the following error. The component "Microsoft Exchange Messaging and Collaboration Service" cannot be assigned the action "Update" because: -You must be at least an Exchange Administrator at the Administrative Group level to run update. You must use an account that has been granted the Exchange Administrator role on the current administrative group, or a higher-level role, using the Exchange Administrative Delegation Wizard. -Setup is unable to access the Windows 2000 Active Directory -Failed to contact the Schema Master for this Active Directory forest. There are 3 sites in the Organization, and the DC holding the FSMO roles is located in a remote site. Using Active Directory Replication Monitor in the Support tools, I was able to query all the FSMO roles. The event viewer does not display any additional errors. What could possibly be the reason behind the failure in applying the sp? Could a corruption in Exchange databases cause such an issue? Are there any other possibilities? Best Regards, Michel Fayad.
