I don't mean to ask too much of the obvious, but you did stop and start IMS, correct?

Subject: Yet another relay question

I have recently secured my Exchange Server against mail relay.  Unbeknownst to me at the time, there is an application on my AS/400 that uses the Exchange server as a mail relay.  So now that the exchange server won't relay, this archaic SMTP app will not work.  I thought that I could simply add an "allowed" IP address in the IMS routing restriction area, this did not work.

Server Details:

EX 5.5 SP3 Local IMS

IMS Details:

Routing Tab> Reroute incoming SMTP is checked.  (Still fighting a POP war.)  Re-routes to My domain name.

Routing Restrictions area>
Specify the hosts and clients that can route mail:

(CHECKED) Hosts and clients with these IP Addresses:
Address #1 MY PC
Address #2 AS/400

When I initiate a telnet session from my PC and attempt to send mail to recipients outside of my domain, I get the relaying denied message.  AS/400 doesn't work either. Anyone know if I am doing something wrong here?  The goal is to have the Exchange server deny relaying to every host except for my AS/400.  I want Exchange to let my AS/400 freely relay mail off of it.  Am I doing something wrong, or am I attempting the impossible.  Thanks a lot everyone- this relay issue continues to be quite enlightening.  :-)
