Last word was to wait for at least Exchange 2000 SP2, maybe SP3 if you want to use a Windows .NET Active Directory.
If you want to use a Windows .NET Server as member of a Windows 2000 domain it will run with Exchange 2000 SP1 but OWA will not work due to the changes in IIS 6.
