Uses rules to set it up.
It is a PITA if you have a bunch of mailboxes. I have always made it the responsibility of the mailbox owner to setup the rule. I just create the mailbox.

hi neil

unfortunately already thought about setting it up on the mail client side and realised that would be a major pain in the ass, i have seen emails come back to our users saying thank you etc, and the reason why i think its a server-side config it because the receipt came with X.400 jargon in it, it also was from [EMAIL PROTECTED], and the subject was different.

i dont think im making alot of sense am i?

thanks

The automatic reply is not an Exchange server configuration; that can be
done using templates from Outlook (or a 3rd party app. like MailSweeper,
but that's overkill if this is all you want).  I also seem to recall
using a public folder with the folder assistant the last time I did
this.

As for your second query, I can't recall as to whether SP4 disables
auto-replies to the Internet, but it should be relatively easy to turn
them back on within the IMS config.
