You can do it programmatically. The way we do it is to add a "filter" to the
DL itself. This is an LDAP string which specifies you want this DL to
contain all mailboxes which contain, for instance, Custom Attribute 10 =
Accounts. A program goes through the Directory, plucks out these filters and
builds the lists.

I can give you the code and you could adapt it. It's just a question of
changing the DL build part to build E2K groups.

In Exchange 2000, can you make membership in a distribution group
dependent on a Custom Attribute? So if I set up a group, everyone with
that Custom Attribute would automatically be in that group?

We used address book views in Exchange 5.5 in lieu of setting up any
distribution lists. Now, I want to avoid having to create and populate all
of those groups in AD.

Is there a better way to do this?
