Yes, it really IS SPAM, unless the opt in list is a reality, which I still doubt.

She did an initial round yesterday at 900 mails in 15 minutes. Exchange was screaming, and all remote users called in to see why they could not get their mail.

I convinced them to stop this morning until this can be discussed further. I think I may be on the verge of a victory!!

An exchange 2000/5.5 server is not a good solution for mail bombing or mass mailing to thousands of people because there is no immediate tie in. My political response would be, our server equipment is not designed to handle this situation. Wait until someone says to find out the cost. Then go get a 10k price for lyris, a 3yr t1 contract for the bandwidth, a 12k ibm server and see what they say. Worst case you have a nice new pipe and server to play with

Has anyone else here had an issue with sales people wanting to use BULK MAILERS??

I am fighting this fight here. User states that they are an OPT IN mailer group (meaning legal), but this is a SERIOUS issue with my servers, even if they are (which I am not sold that it is). Has anyone else dealt with this issue?
