We are running Exch 5.5 sp4 on W2k Sp2.

Up until this point I have not allowed any relaying as the only supported
email was Outlook/MAPI based and was not needed. Recently we received a
software package that internally communicates via Internet Mail (Smtp/Pop)
to send alerts & notifications. If I configure the components within the
software to use the Exchange server it will successful send email internally
[EMAIL PROTECTED] but will not route to any external address [EMAIL PROTECTED] as
I would have anticipated. Under the "Routing Restrictions" -> "Specify
hosts and clients...." section of the IMC I added the IP address of the
machine that contains the software package then stopped and restarted the
IMC. I thought this would allow that machine/software to relay to external
email addresses unfortunately, I still get "550 relaying is prohibited
messages". Should this procedure described allow the machine to relay or did
I miss something?

Thanks
