...and finally - this is actually the size of the resulting message
including any attachments (rather than the size of the attachment
itself) after conversion to SMTP - attachment size tends to increase
during this conversion typically from 20-50%.

One other place to check is virus software, so of them have a size rule.
Oh yeah, if this is something you are seeing form internet message, the
mail gateway may have a limit, if you have something other than a
Exchange front-end in place.

Thanks Sherry and John, I looked in both places.

Under the SMTP Virtual server setting, the limits are not checked at
all, so I assume there are no limits or the limits are set by the
registry.

Under the Global Settings, the only setting set is the # of recipients.
Others are set to "No Limits".

Other suggestions?

Also check:

Global Settings, Message Delivery, Defaults tab. This covers all
servers and SMTP connectors.

You have to go to the Exchange SMTP virtual server, right click, select
properties, select message tab and that's where it's at.

CEO requested adjustment on Exchange 2003 to allow attachments larger

mailbox send and receive.

Is this setting located in another area and/or a registry key that needs
to be added?

TIA,
Tom
