It seems to be workstation specific, rather than user specific.

Right now we think the issue is with the certificate stores on the
workstations, but we haven't narrowed down exactly what's happened to them, or
how to fix it.

The Free/Busy comment makes me wonder about the LegacyExchangeDN value of the
affected user account. Does is reference an Exchange 2003 AG that was deleted?

I'm not sure how any of that would relate to Windows Update issue though...

I've got this issue for a handful of users also.

If it's the same problem I'm having you should find Free/Busy searching doesn't
work for this user, and Windows Update doesn't work on that machine any more.

I have the same issue for a user that I am working on at the moment.
Make sure your autodiscover settings are working correctly.

I have also looked at
http://www.msexchange.org/articles_tutorials/exchange-server-2007/tools/troubleshooting-out-of-office.html

Disabling the OOO from OWA and setting it again in Outlook is not working for
me.
On my PC and the users PC I get that error message both clients are Outlook
2007 SP1.
I have logged in to a spare laptop as this user and setup Outlook and it OOO
works straight away.
Setup a new profile on the users pc again and still does not work.
Still investigating...

Since the upgrade/transition from Exchange 2003 to 2007, I have found that Out
Of Office has stopped working for the users, leaving them is the state of On or
Off that they were in before they moved over. The Exchange 2003 Server is now
redundant and we are running all users on 2007.

Any ideas or has anyone seen this before?

Kind regards,

Paul.
