Platform: Exchange 2k3, SP2 on Win2k3, SP2
Backup: Veritas NetBackup 6.5 w/MS Exchange client

I've been asked to recover email & notes for a VP that are no longer in
the his Deleted Retention items and
feel that using a Recover Storage Group to restore a Mailbox Store is
probably the way to proceed -- having
never done this, please forgive this Exchange neophyte a few questions
.....

I understand where (in System Mgr) to create a Recovery Storage Group,
and then,

1) after creating a RSG, specify a new path for the database and logs
2) then Add the Mail Store to be recovered to the RSG ?? trying to keep
db names the same ???
3) then start a Restore from the Veritas console..

Here's kinda where I'm losing it... do you specify an alternate
destination in the Veritas restore window or use the
default "Restore everything to original location" and then Exchange
detects that
1) the production Mail Store is online
2) the Mail Store I added to the RSG is what is attempting to be
restored and thus redirects the data to the RSG path

Sorry, a little squeamish - an Exchange fubar is not my top priority
this week :)
