how exactly do you feel that an OOO 'invites' spammers? That is a ludicrous proposition.
and if you're going to say that the OOO confirms the existence of a valid mailbox, my counterargument is that the lack of a bounce also confirms that mailbox. And *everyone*[1] allows NDRs out. (If they don't, they should.) this is a people problem, not a technical one. and we all know... wait for it.... wait... there are no good technical solutions to behavioral problems. [1] - per RFC everyone should allow NDR. I honestly don't know who does not.
