I've been asked to come up with a system that will automatically check for email on a remote POP3 server. It should have some way of returning a true or false value depending on whether email exists or not. The system should then delete any email in the box to prepare a clean slate for next time. The idea is to set up a free external email account somewhere and send it a small email once every five minutes through our normal email system (Exchange 07). This external system would be an automated test that everything is working properly in our outbound email system from Outlook to Exchange to ISPs to soup to nuts. Ideas?
