Folks, Here are some more facts about this from the Jaagore website and discussions at http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid=23885589234&topic=9893
*The 'No Vote' clause does exist, however by casting such a vote you are just ensuring that no one casts a (fake) vote in your place. And yes, this option is not available in the EVM (Electronic Voting Machine), as you enter the polling booth, you need to approach your presiding officer and cast such a vote. We have confirmed with the Election Commission of India that this DOES NOT suggest anything on the lines of elections being debarred or candidates being unable to stand again if a certain min. no votes are cast. Would therefore also encourage you all to take a good look at ALL the candidates standing in your constituency - and VOTE for one of them! We shall be putting up candidate profiles of all those standing, go through those, make a well-informed decision. We start small. By voting the least corrupt and the most efficient this year, with every year we will see a marked difference in the kind of politicians that stand. Unless you and I vote, no 'good' leader will have the courage to stand for fear of not having any 'good' voters to elect them. * On Wed, Dec 10, 2008 at 12:23 PM, maninder singh <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>wrote: > Harbinder, > It is definitely quite informative.I will tell you a small > story on this. > Once, there was a guy suffering with leprocy sitting on a roadside. There > were flies all over him. > A passerby saw that and out of love and sympathy he made those flies go > away. The guy with leprocy started > cursing him. So,the passerby asked him that why did you curse me because i > was trying to help you. > The guy with leprocy said,"You know! those flies sitting on me were done > drinking my blood and now they > were just sitting there and not drinking my blood anymore.". > Since, you made them fly away. Now,more flies will come and start drinking my > blood all over again. > Now,the synonym about this story and the story about India and > Indian politicians is that all the politicians are blood suckers and they > would do anything to gain their power. They will create frictions between > Hindus and sikhs, hindus and muslims, schedule castes issues and so on just to > gain power. They blame Britishers for using the policy of divide and rule but > if you think and look at it > closely then they are not different in any manner. > So,my friend this provision is great in Indian constitution but you get to > choose between thief and robber. So,pick the one you want. > The condition of the country is like the guy suffering with leprocy and > politicians are like flies. > > Mani > > > > On Tue, Dec 9, 2008 at 9:33 PM, Harbinder Malhotra <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>wrote: > >> >> Hi >> >> People say that we should ban the voting...i.e. we will not go to >> vote any body...! the reasons for this is not the scope of this >> mail... but....but... there is another solution and more powerful >> solution for this....as below >> >> Section 49-O of the Constitution -- Must be read by a Responsible >> Indian >> >> Did you know that there is a system in our constitution, as per the >> 1969 act, in section "49-O" that a person can go to the polling booth, >> confirm his identity, get his finger marked and convey the >> presiding election officer that he doesn't want to vote anyone! >> >> Yes such a feature is available, but obviously these seemingly >> notorious leaders have never disclosed it.
