For those that have been paying attention to recent developments in arbor, Ive recently created a new branch in arbor named cross.
The intent for this branch is to properly introduce some work that Ive been kicking around for some time now. The branch introduces support for building cross-compiling toolchains and uses that to create an environment which can host multiple architectures simultaneously (a.k.a multiarch). There are more details on the impetus for this change in the docs repository (git://git.exherbo.org/docs.git) under multiarch/multiarch.txt. A fairly up to date copy can be accessed at http://www.exherbo.org/docs/multiarch.txt . There is still plenty of work to be done. A preliminary guide for details on switching is available in the docs repository in multiarch/multiarch.mkd. A HTML version of this document is available at http://www.exherbo.org/docs/multiarch.html Please note that there are still quite a few issues to work out, and so it is highly recommended that if you are brave enough to try to play with this, you do so in a chroot first to ensure that everything will work. Please pay close attention to the documentation, as there are changes to where important system binaries are installed, and is very easy to have the system end up in a state where recovery is non-trivial. Make sure that you read the associated documentation completely before attempting to perform the conversion. As usual patches to address issues are quite welcome and may be submitted via zebrapig on IRC . -- Saleem Abdulrasool compnerd (at) compnerd (dot) org _______________________________________________ Exherbo-dev mailing list [email protected] http://lists.exherbo.org/mailman/listinfo/exherbo-dev
