Mirrors are important in countries where International access is slow and (probably more importantly) expensive. Though of course suitable web caches at the International connection points can help, they are not always available. I think what I am saying is that mirrors are still important in the less-developed parts of the world for the same reasons that they were once important everywhere. No doubt this implies that in due course we can hope that their importance will reduce as the less-developed parts of the world catch up. But I do not think this will happen overnight, despite the grand words of our politicians. -- Philip Hazel University of Cambridge Computing Service, [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cambridge, England.
