I fully understand why SOCKS, it's one of those things which I'd need to
implement to be able to use Exim in a certain project for $work, but I
haven't had time, so I haven't put in the development work.

If the code is written and contributed, I'd be happy to review, but at
this time I'm not likely to be writing it myself.
