            Bug ID: 2394
Summary: DKIM docs reference obsolete RFC
           Product: Exim
           Version: 4.89
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: wishlist
          Priority: medium
         Component: DKIM
          Assignee: t...@duncanthrax.net
          Reporter: e...@aitchison.me.uk
                CC: exim-dev@exim.org

The description of dkim_sign_headers in spec.txt chapter 57.2 refers to RFC4871
which is obsoleted by RFC6376.
The list of Recommended Signature Content (section 5.5 -> 5.4.1) is not
trivially the same in the two RFCs.

Further, the SHOULD in RFC4871 is not present in RFC6376.
As has been pointed out in the mailop list
https://chilli.nosignal.org/cgi-bin/mailman/private/mailop/2019-April/013994.html
RFC4871 says these headers SHOULD be used *if they are present in the message
being signed* whereas the default exim config is to *always* sign these
headers.
