It isn't clever enough to start and use a real one; the only testing currently is very basic scripted emulation of what we think the external process accepts and sends. It's far from optimal, and only functions as basic regression-checking. Even with what's there, some expansion of the testing to cover the added facility/ies added to the code would be needed.
