I'm not an actual exim dev, but this seems strange. O_APPEND used by logging is SFAIK part of POSIX.1 if your container does not support that it is broken. https://pubs.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/009695399/functions/open.html File locking, well that's not my area of expertise, but I suspect it's using some standard open(2) features too. -- Jasen.
