Sure... A few notes.... Messages that are Message-Id based counts do not include any message that was found to have an X-Mailer header. Each Message was only classified by the first match found. The 'X-Mailer'|'Message-ID' type string is the Perl based regex used to identify a mailer, =~ /X-Mailer: <String>.*$/ Format is <NumberFound> => <String> These totals are based on each message, not poster, so heavy use individuals can and will skew the results found, such as I use JBmail and I am not sure if anyone else does, i did not look ;) The messages parsed are the archives found on this webpage: http://www.exim.org/mail-archives/exim-users/ (taken sometime 05/19/2005) based on A href links to .gz files as found in the index page. This is not going to be 'scientifically' accurate by any means, a better solution would be to take into account individual posters.., but this should give a good feel of the MUA's used, and Pine wins by far (not includeing all of those 'Who_Knows' results ;) ### Note that these are messages without an X-Mailer: header### Total number of messages with 'Message-Id: ' header only => '26988' 16949 => 'Who_Knows' <--- To unreliable to tell anything about the mailer 8551 => '<Pine\.' 502 => '.+gmail\.com>' 466 => '.+squirrel' <--- Should be a squirrel mail based install 197 => '.+webmail\.' <--- Should be web-based mailers 190 => '.+hotmail\.com>' 86 => '.+gmane\.org>' 36 => '.+imp\.' <--- Should be an imp based install 11 => '<pan\.' ### Note that these are messages with an X-Mailer: header### Total number of messages with 'X-Mailer: ' header => '16174' 2977 => 'Microsoft Outlook Express' 2401 => 'Ximian Evolution' 1039 => 'Microsoft Outlook' 993 => 'Apple Mail' 858 => 'Sylpheed' 845 => 'Internet Mail Service' 834 => 'Mutt' 577 => 'Evolution' 554 => 'Microsoft Office Outlook' 507 => 'Microsoft Outlook IMO' 467 => '.+ Eudora' 439 => 'VM' 409 => 'The Bat!' 379 => 'Forte Agent' 346 => 'Mozilla' 337 => 'Mulberry' 302 => 'JBMail' 249 => 'Mahogany' 223 => 'exmh' ### My favorite X-Mailer: header string :) ### 210 => 'Some Outlooks can't quote properly without this header' 167 => 'SquirrelMail' 126 => 'Lotus Notes' 125 => 'Microsoft Outlook CWS' 116 => 'KMail' 116 => 'PMMail' 109 => 'Simeon' 101 => 'ELM' 65 => 'Open WebMail' 65 => 'XFMail' 63 => 'webmail' 58 => 'Becky!' 44 => 'Novell GroupWise' 44 => 'WWW-Mail' 42 => 'ISMail' 25 => 'Balsa' 23 => 'GyazMail' 23 => 'Turnpike Integrated' 21 => 'Pine' 21 => 'Unknown' <-- Actual String 'X-Mailer: Unkown.*' 18 => 'o2\.pl WebMail' 17 => '(?:emacs )+\d+\..+ \(via feedmail' 17 => 'IncrediMail' 16 => 'nmh' 14 => 'Calypso' 14 => 'SCO Shell' 14 => 'Webmail' 12 => 'CommuniGate Pro' 12 => 'Helpdesk Webmail' 12 => 'UebiMiau' 11 => 'MIME-tools' 10 => 'AT&T Message Center' 10 => 'NeoMail' 10 => 'iPlanet Messenger Express' 9 => 'Eudora' 9 => 'Yahoo Groups Message Poster' 8 => 'BasiliX' 8 => 'V-webmail' 8 => '\[ConnectMail' 7 => 'IlohaMail' 7 => 'WorldClient' 6 => 'Ishmail' 6 => 'PocoMail' 6 => 'TWIG' 6 => 'Web Based Pronto' 6 => 'Z-Mail' 6 => 'gyaz version' 6 => 'iNet WebMail System' 5 => 'Courier' 5 => 'Endymion MailMan' 5 => 'GNUMail\.app' 5 => 'Rasterpunkt-webmail' 5 => 'Ultrafunk Popcorn' 5 => '\[version 3\.10 \]' <-- the actual string... 5 => 'dtmail' 4 => 'AeroMail' 4 => 'CWMail Web to Mail Gateway' 4 => 'Connexus MailWeb' 4 => 'CrossPoint' 4 => 'Earthlink Web Access Mail' 4 => 'Mailreader\.com' 4 => 'Openwave WebEngine' 4 => 'PHP' 4 => 'SilverMail' 3 => 'LEMON:' 3 => 'LycosMail ' 3 => 'MIME::Lite' 3 => 'Mail\/@' 3 => 'Microsoft Internet Mail' 3 => 'PrimPosta' 3 => 'TkRat' 3 => 'http:\/\/www\.courier-mta\.org\/cone\/' 2 => '<IMail' 2 => 'AtMail Corp' 2 => 'BLANK' <--- Actual header 'X-Mailer: ' nothing was there :P 2 => 'DreamMail' 2 => 'DvISE' 2 => 'Earthlink Zoo Mail' 2 => 'Express Webmail' 2 => 'FUDforum' 2 => 'Ghost Mail' 2 => 'Hunter Point Online WebMail ' 2 => 'LSMail' 2 => 'MAILUTION' 2 => 'Mailsmith' 2 => 'SKYRiX' 2 => 'Vivian Mail' 2 => 'Web-Mail' 2 => 'WebMail' 2 => 'mcDesktop' 2 => 'twiggi' 1 => '.+ AK-Mail' 1 => '<SMTP32' 1 => 'Atlas Mailer' 1 => 'Bloomba' 1 => 'ColdFusion MX Application Server' 1 => 'Execmail' 1 => 'Exim\/Ream' 1 => 'Express-Webmail' 1 => 'FrontDoor APX' 1 => 'Global Relay Mail Archives' 1 => 'Gordano Messaging Suite' 1 => 'HOME\.RO FreeMail' 1 => 'IWPMail' 1 => 'Intac Webmail' 1 => 'Internet Rex gateway' 1 => 'MAILSTUDIO' 1 => 'MH-E' 1 => 'MRS Internet Mail APL' 1 => 'MS Outlook' 1 => 'MailCity Service' 1 => 'Microsoft CDO' 1 => 'Microsoft Internet E-mail/MAPI' 1 => 'Mongol WebMail' 1 => 'Mr\.Mail' 1 => 'NIMS ModWeb Module' 1 => 'NateOn Web Mailer' 1 => 'Netscape Webmail' 1 => 'Opera' 1 => 'PHPost' 1 => 'P\s' 1 => 'Pegasus Mail' 1 => 'Php\/libMail' 1 => 'Postaci' 1 => 'Quality Web Email' 1 => 'SNetLine WebMail' 1 => 'SilkyMail' 1 => 'Starten.no' 1 => 'USANET web-mailer' 1 => 'Urbi WebMail' 1 => 'Usermin' 1 => 'VSNL, Web based email' 1 => 'WMail' 1 => 'Web XMail' 1 => 'WebDesign Mail' 1 => 'WebEmail' 1 => 'Webmin' 1 => 'Yamail' 1 => 'http:\/\/www\.openmail\.cc webmail' 1 => 'iGMail' 1 => 'mutt' 1 => 'talk21' -- --EAL-- -- -- ## List details at http://www.exim.org/mailman/listinfo/exim-users ## Exim details at http://www.exim.org/ ## Please use the Wiki with this list - http://www.exim.org/eximwiki/
