just to chime in on this...
a lot of people have been telling me that dovecot imap is a bit faster
and needs less memory than courier -- i haven't seen any numbers, but i
hear that a lot, so it might be worth looking into
also, i believe you mentioned a lot of webmail -- make sure you use an
imap proxy for webmail -- that will save a lot of cpu time and memory
