Folks,

we're running exim 4.51 on our mailhubs and scoring for spam via spammassassin
on a separate server. We seem to have a problem
with the SA server that causes connections from the hubs to fail. A typical
error message is -

2005-11-07 03:19:41 1EYxVp-0006V8-Cw spam acl condition: error reading from
spamd socket: Connection timed out

We haven't managed to get to the bottom of the SA server problem which occurs
between midnight and 4am. In the meantime I would
like to minimise the effects of this. It seems that exim continues on through
the acl list when this happens and the result is
that the spam score headers are omitted on batches of messages received during
such periods. I would like to be able to
configure exim such that messages are deferred when this is happening. I've
tried checking for null values of $spam_score_int
but that does not appear to work. Is there any way of doing this?

Thanks,

 Clive McDowell
