There's nothing necessarily wrong with blocking mail from <> to certain
addresses. You can't deliver mail from:<> to [EMAIL PROTECTED], for
example.

It could be that the recipient verification callout is misconfigured and
is not using the /use_sender option, and the original poster's address
is never actually seen in MAIL FROM:<...> so doesn't accept bounces.
