So, that's what?  $1600 for a solution... not bad.

Now: Exim+spamassassin+viruscheck ($0), Linux/FreeBSD ($0), MySQL ($0),
Vim ($0) and Mutt ($0).  Total is $0 which seems to me to be less...
but then again, I am a mathematician.

In my experience cost was never an issue in choosing IT solutions --
just politics.
