well, what we do for some bulk mailings is to feed these messages into a
script which keeps track of responses.  if it is the first reply, it
sends a form letter with information about who to contact about what and
so on.  (we do of course try to make sure we're not responding to
auto-responders.)  if the user replies once more, the message is passed
on to the mailing list for the relevant support personnel.

for the most part we just set reply-to the mailing list right off the
bat, though.  it really isn't that much of a load to handle, there
generally is a reason for people responding, and making it harder for
them will not save neither you nor them any time.
