Agreed, but have you actually measured it? SQLite updating is really fast, even for hundreds of transactions per second (my usage test here). That's why I mentioned a comparison... guesses aren't necessarily worth much :)

Let's not start the verdammt 'DB speed-wars' here!

Given the limitation of available upstream bandwidth it would be hard to find *any* DB that Exim could stress.

DBMail or PowerMail might be another matter.

What DOES matter is decent record structure and well-crafted calls.
