Appears where? What timezone change? Can you show some mail headers?

You should definitely upgrade to a 4.x version ASAP. 3.34 is over 5 years old 
and completely unsupported. You're unlikely to find anyone willing to dig 
into the code to investigate the problem for free.

I doubt that Exim is to blame, though.
