It's always more complex tying different applications together, but then 
IT isn't for the feint hearted and a reliable email system doubly so. 
If anyone has the time and resources to experiment then perhaps when a 
real business case needs to be made they will be better informed of the 
benefits and pitfalls.  IMO the best decision was to start with Exim ;-)
