Are you sure there wasn't anything else on that log line?  Log lines usually
list the reason for the rejection.

You might want to try "exim -d -bhc 216.240.12.2", then type

EHLO GRANT
MAIL FROM:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
RCPT TO:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

and see what happens.
