http://wiki.exim.org/DontObfuscate This may be Debian-specific, in which case you should post to [EMAIL PROTECTED], as /usr/share/doc/exim4-base/README.Debian.gz (or .html) tells you. > 007-08-03 01:36:09 1IGkDB-0001SX-Lm <= [EMAIL PROTECTED] U=root P=local S=328 > > 2007-08-03 01:36:10 1IGkDB-0001SX-Lm ** [EMAIL PROTECTED] R=smarthost > T=remote_smtp_smarthost: SMTP error from remote mailer after RCPT > TO:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: host mail.gmx.net [213.165.64.21]: 550 5.1.2 > Cannot resolve your domain {mp012} I find this message from mail.gmx.net a bit cryptic. "Your domain"? There shouldn't be any need for resolving gmx.de. I can only assume that they mean "the domain part of your recipient". Which is hard to say anything about since it's obfuscated. > 2007-08-03 01:36:10 1IGkDC-0001Sa-8I <= <> R=1IGkDB-0001SX-Lm U=Debian-exim > P=local S=1301 > 2007-08-03 01:36:10 1IGkDB-0001SX-Lm Completed > > 2007-08-03 01:36:10 1IGkDC-0001Sa-8I ** [EMAIL PROTECTED] > <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>R=smarthost T=remote_smtp_smarthost: SMTP error from remote > mailer after MAIL FROM:<> SIZE=2357: host mail.gmx.net [213.165.64.20]: 550 > 5.1.7 This server does not accept an empty envelope from ( > http://portal.gmx.net/serverrules ) {mp056} This is lame, but maybe acceptable for an MSA. They apparently don't expect it to talk to MTAs, only MUAs. I think you should configure Exim to send mail with other sender addresses than your gmx.de address through your ISP's mailserver if you can't send mail directly without involving a smarthost. -- Magnus Holmgren [EMAIL PROTECTED] (No Cc of list mail needed, thanks) "Exim is better at being younger, whereas sendmail is better for Scrabble (50 point bonus for clearing your rack)" -- Dave Evans
