I checked my system and found it wasn't doing that (yes, I knew you'd be pleased). So I downloaded http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/glibc/glibc-2.6.1.tar.bz2 and checked the change logs, and didn't find any reference to the change. In fact I didn't find any reference to mdns at all in glibc-2.6.1, nor in my host.conf(5) man page. Are you sure it's glibc doing it? Could you point me towards what makes you think it's glibc?
