hello list,

i have set up a mail system for virtual domains as well as for
localhost mail. at the moment i am struggling at a probably easy to
solve problem. the envelope address gets build in a way that makes it
troublesome to communicate with other smtps when sending mail.

lets say the hostname of this machine is mail.domain.tld and it is
working as an mx for virtual.tld.

the envelope MAIL FROM: then reads like

        <"[EMAIL PROTECTED]"@mail.domain.tld>

which mostly leads to 501 from remote smtps. too me, this looks like a
misconfiguration on my side. i tried to rewrite envelope adresses or
to remove and add new headers, but nothing really changed this string.

i know that it would help to paste complete configs, but basically i
wanted to ask if it is a common mistake i made.
if so, this implies to read further documentation (which i did but
wasnt able to find more information so far, digged through the faqs
and went through the official printed offical exim guide).

any hints are appreciated, thanks for your answers.

kind regards,

frank scholl
