Wouldn't debian deserve some credit for making exim its default MTA and 
as a result making it more popular? I don't think any other non debian 
based distros use exim by default, but correct me if I am wrong. If I 
remember correctly debian used sendmail before. I seem to vaguely 
remember to having been briefly confused when my trusty MTA suddenly had 
changed names. ;-) But that may very well be due to switching distros, 
it's a bit of a blur.
