Hi,
If you are wanting to replace exchange with a more open product, rather 
than look at exim, it may be better to look at zimbra or openexchange.

These are groupware products rather than just an MTA.

More companies should be looking into doing this, It's not going to be 
easy I'm sure, but worth the effort.
