Stabbing around a bit here:
- Have you tried the search from the shell (ldapsearch)? Same result?
- Are you running in an environment with a different ldap.conf than the
one used by whomever is running exim?
- If you have OpenLDAP as server, what does slapd.log show? If not,
what does <insert name of directory server here>'s log show?
