If I understand the source correctly: 

According to src/child.c:386¹ the output on fd 1 and 2 is collected
and meant as "any" output.

Thus it should be ok to update the documentation accordingline. About 
that way
    
    any (stdout, stderr) output …

I'll update the spec.
