I tested these options (exim config on debian :
main/02_exim4-config_options) :
split_spool_directory
queue_run_max = 50
remote_max_parallel = 50
QUEUE=5m
smtp_accept_max = 500
smtp_accept_queue_per_connection = 2000
deliver_queue_load_max = 10
Do you have other interesting options ?
