Ok but where is the config file ?
I reconfigured exim to use only one main unsplitted config file, but there are 
so many config files, I wonder if it worked

It does, by default, but only if a DNS lookup fails.
Either you're getting a DNS success or your config has a setting for the 
host_lookup_order option which changes the default lookup sequence.
