Hi,

I have just installed a new debian server with exim and smtp auth enabled. When I try to send mail via a webinterface on the local host things work fine. When I try to send something via a mail client from remote or via smarthost from another debian server running exim I get an "plain_server authenticator failed for www.xxx.de [x.x.x.x]: 435 Unable to authenticate at present (set_id=xxx): true error". I use the same configuration on my other server where it works flawlessly. I use PAM as n authentication source. TLS and SSH seem to work. Any ideas?

Regards

Henning
