Then it was never received, and no mail was lost. So we're good on that front.
I may have chosen my words poorly; the mail is lost indeed. 2024-12-23 08:57:17 Mail arrives from xyz.outbound.protection.outlook.com and is accepted Then this happened: 1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S Failed to reopen /var/spool/exim4//input/n/1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S-D for remote parallel delivery: No such file or directory 1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S Delivery status for [email protected]: got 0 of 7 bytes (pipeheader) from transport process 2661532 for transport smtp 1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S == [email protected] R=dovecotmail T=dovecot defer (-1) DT=0s: smtp transport process returned non-zero status 0x0100: exit code 1 1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S Failed to reopen /var/spool/exim4//input/n/1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S-D for remote parallel delivery: No such file or directory 1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S Delivery status for [email protected]: got 0 of 7 bytes (pipeheader) from transport process 2661533 for transport smtp 1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S == [email protected] R=mailarchive T=archive (-1) DT=0s: smtp transport process returned non-zero status 0x0100: exit code 1 1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S Frozen $: exim -v -Mt 1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S LOG: MAIN Spool file 1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S-D not found Spool data file for 1tPdIn-0000000BAIr-2q0S does not exist So, my server B receives the mail from A and forwards it to C. Exim is restarted while being in the delivery process to C and the data file is lost, only the header file is still there. I'll just downgrade everything tomorrow as this will definitely fix the systemd unit issue.
